Post Malone - Go Flex Music Video Analysis

At the begging of the music you see Post Malone's shoes walking and the words 'go flex' on the screen, then he opens a car door and gets in and starts the engine, after the engine starts Post Malone looks in the rear view mirror the music begins to play showing that hes going on a journey and the music is his company. The shoes walking could suggest that the artist is going on journey and the car starting could also indicate he is leaving and this is just the start of his career and that hes gonna become bigger and better.

For my first music video i chose 'Go Flex' by Post Malone. This music video follows the traditional conventions of hip-hop with elements of rap and trap.

Post Malone 'Austin Richard Post' is an american rapper, singer, song writer who produces his own music. His main genre is hip-hop/rap and his music videos mostly follow the traditional conventions of these genres.

The lyric don't really relate to the visuals however a inter-linking narrative cuts in and out of the performance element when he is sitting playing the acoustic guitar or singing along with the music doing. The song is very relaxed and not too up beat which could relate to all the location shots of the scenery when he is out in the desert. Also playing the guitar and smoking are considered things that are relaxing and displaying these visuals over the music gives chilled out/relaxed feel.

In the shots when the artist is inside the warehouse they have used key lighting to create effect. They cut little holes into a metal sheet which to me made it look like they shot the metal with a gun, which could suggest that he came or is still in a bad place were there is still a lot of crime so he moves again to a place in the desert with a girl which could suggest that he has found a better place and starting a new life with someone else. Then the shot cuts back to him in the warehouse which could suggest that the crime will never leave you and that you will always go back.

He ends up at a dark place which is lit up by oil cans which are on fire. The whole place is lit up by fire which could suggest that he may be up to no good, then he pulls out a baseball bat which has large nails sticking out of it and is painted gold.
